Airtel 3G Services - Tariff, Availability And Activation Procedure
Compare these plans to BSNL 3G data plans (Rs. 1399/- for unlimited data) and given the condition that users can now opt for BSNL retaining their existing phone numbers thanks to nation-wide Mobile Number Portability (MNP), I guess Airtel will have a tough time selling there 3G services to customers at these rates.
To activate Airtel 3G simply SMS 3G to 121.

Process to switch service provider under MNP
- Send a SMS to 1900 as,
PORT
- You will receive a unique porting code through SMS on your mobile number. You need to use this code in communication with new service provider for MNP switch.
- Go to your current service provider outlet and clear your pending bills.
- Now go to new service provider’s outlet and apply for MNP program and provide the unique porting code that you had received after step 1. As unique porting code has some expiry time, so complete this process as early as possible.
- New Service provider will take the approval from old service provider and the process will initiate from there. It takes around 4 – 7 days for completion of this procedure. In the mean time, your mobile number will be operative. Government has told that the MNP mobile number service should not be discontinued for more than 2 hours when some technical procedure will be completed by both service providers.
- Current service provider will tell you the date and time when they will discontinue your number and the new service provider will start proving the service after porting your number.
Charge for switching number under MNP Program
You will be charged Rs. 19 for porting number from one service provider to another without changing that i.e. under MNP program. This charge has to be paid to the new service provider.
New SIM Card from New Service Provider
You will get new SIM card from the new service provider. You will have to change the SIM card to the new one after the complete porting of the number from old to new service provider.
Prepaid and Postpaid Users
MNP program is for everyone whether you are using Prepaid and Postpaid service. Prepaid account balance can’t be forwarded to new service provider. That means, your current balance at the time of porting the number will lapse and you can’t carry that to new service provider. Postpaid users will have to clear the pending bills before porting the number.
CDMA and GSM Service Portability
A CDMA number can be ported to GSM service and vice versa. For example, now you can shift from Reliance CDMA to Idea GSM service or vice versa.
Rules and Limitations of MNP Program
Of course there are some rules and regulations and limitations of MNP program. Here are some of the limitations of MNP,
1. You can’t switch the service provider for second time within 90 days of first portability. That means, you will have to use the 2’nd service provider’s service for 90 days and then only you can switch to new service service provider i.e. 3’rd one.
2. Circle Limitations – MNP does not work in inter circle portability. That means, you can’t change the circle and have the same number on different service provider. MNP is possible in same circle only.
If you have any query related to mobile number portability (MNP) which is starting from today across India other than Haryana where it was already started from 25th November 2010, ask thru comments. Share your experience of using MNP as well.
Facebook Surprise Scam Spreading Through Facebook Messages
I have seen tons of Facebook scams which have been part of my Facebook feed, but for the first time today I came across a new "Facebook Surprise" scam which was sent through a direct message on Facebook.
With the new Facebook message scam, one or more of your contacts will send you a Facebook message saying "I got u surprise random website". The random website could be any website which then redirects you to a page which displays a message similar to the screenshot below.
First off, don’t click on the URL in the message, and secondly don’t click on the Get A Surprise Now message since it will not only send all your contacts a message with the link to the surprise, but also download a nice little surprise to your PC, which could contain Malware or Virus. STAY AWAY FROM IT.
As I have always suggested, don’t click on random links on Facebook. It is very hard to resist, but in the end you are not just affecting yourself but also putting all your Facebook friends in danger of passing it along.

Available in both 32 and 64 bit, the hashes for the leaked build are as follows:
MICROSOFT.WINDOWS.7.SERVICE.PACK-1.RTM.X86.WAVE1.RIP.DVD-WZ.ZUKOThis is not the first time that it has happened to some build of Windows 7. Many Windows 7 builds – including M1, Beta, post Beta, RC and RTM were all leaked before their scheduled release dates, or announcements.

To access Facebook Voice Updates on Aircel you have to dial a short code 51555. This service is available at a weekly subscription of Rs. 5, other price details are not yet available. Using this service you can post Voice update on your profile or even your friends profile.
I really liked this concept. You can be on Facebook even without having internet, I know that one can do so by using SMSes but Voice updates sounds fun. Do share with us what do you think about Aircel new innovative service.
Facebook is not closing down on March 15
Over the weekend I saw many of my hassled friends on Facebook reading and believing a report from a satire website about Facebook closing down this March.
A bogus news story published by the "Weekly World News", said Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg had told reporters that "managing Facebook has ruined my life. I need to put an end to all the madness"
The report which came out Weekly World News said that Mark Zuckerberg had said that they were shutting down Facebook because it had gotten out of control. The report went ahead to quote the Vice President of Technical Affairs at Facebook, saying that they would close down the website on March 15th.
“After March 15th the whole website shuts down,” said Avrat Humarthi, Vice President of Technical Affairs at Facebook. “So if you ever want to see your pictures again, I recommend you take them off the internet. You won’t be able to get them back once Facebook goes out of business.”
However, not one word of this news is actually true. The website in question is a satire site which posts fake news which is then consumed by gullible people who believe in it, or people who just want to have some fun. A similar site called Faking News (http://www.fakingnews.com) exists and puts up spoof stories on Indian and international issues.
As for my friends and several other thousands of people who got fooled. Facebook is a lucrative business and only a fool would decide to close it after securing billions of dollars as investment, and Mark is not to be counted as one of those fools. Facebook also confirmed the same through an update on Facebook.
We didn’t get the memo about shutting down, so we’ll keep working away like always. We aren’t going anywhere; we’re just getting started. So please think before believing and spreading panic. We also have rumors that the world is coming to an end in 2012. Unfortunately all requests to God for confirming or denying this fact have not been answered. We will post an update as soon as we get more information from God .
Have fun and continue Facebooking.

Downgrade iPhone 06.15.00 Baseband to 05.13.xx (iPhone 3G Bootloader 5.8 Only)
The following method will help you downgrade the baseband of iPhone 3G from 06.15.00 to 5.13.xx, which is unlockable using Ultrasn0w. This method will also enable you to restore your device on the official stock firmware using iTunes which was otherwise not possible on iPad’s 06.15.00 baseband.
The method currently only works with the iPhone 3G with bootloader 5.8 and the procedure is pretty straightforward, although we would not recommend it to novice users. We also suggest that you back everything up on your device before following the procedure. Proceed at your own risk.
Disclaimer: This guide is for information and educational purposes only. Use it at your own risk, we cannot be held responsible if anything goes wrong.
Requirements:
- Jailbroken iPhone 3G
- Fuzzyband installed via Cydia
- afc2add installed via Cydia
- i-FunBox (for Windows) or DiskAid (for Mac)
- Certificate to use with Fuzzyband.
How To Downgrade iPhone 3G Baseband 06.15.00 to 05.13.xx With FuzzyBand:
Step 1:
Download the required certificate file ICE2-06.15.00.cert from here.Step 2:
Install Fuzzyband from Cydia, then start the application.Step 3:
Connect your iPhone 3G with your computer via USB cable.Step 4:
Start i-FunBox and click File, then navigate to Applications/Fuzzyband.app, right-click and then select Copy from PC.Step 5:
Select the ICE2-06.15.00.cert file you downloaded earlier and then copy it to this location: Applications/Fuzzyband.app.Step 6:
Now simply disconnect your iPhone from your computer and start the Fuzzyband app (which you previously installed using Cydia in Step 2) on your iPhone.Step 7:
In Fuzzyband, you will now see your current version of Baseband, (which should still be 06.15.00). But now you will have the option to downgrade it to version 05.13.xx.Once you have downgraded, Go to Settings –> About, and scroll down to check your Baseband which should now read 05.13.xx (which is unlockable via Ultrasn0w). You can now also update or restore any firmware without iTunes throwing errors.
