Jailbreak for Newer Devices on iOS 4.0.2 / 3.2.2 to be Skipped in Favor of iOS 4.1
The iPhone Dev-Team has just posted an update on their official blog, giving warning to all those with newer devices like iPhone 4, iPad (on iOS 3.2.2), iPhone 3GS (New bootrom) and iPod touch 3G / 2G (MC-Model) to not update to iOS 4.0.2 as they wont be wasting another exploit for this minor firmware update. Instead, the focus will now be on finding a new exploit which could be used on the next major firmware update i.e. iOS 4.1. I’ll say that is a good move on their part given that final version of iOS 4.1 could be out as early as next week.
Now it’s a few weeks later, and Apple has closed the jailbreakme.com hole. They’re shipping devices with FW 4.0.2/3.2.2, impervious to this particular jailbreak. So now, people will begin to ask: will there be a jailbreak for devices that shipped with 4.0.2/3.2.2, out of the box?
Once the jailbreak for iOS 4.1 is out, it will of course be compatible with iOS 4.0.2 and / or any previously released firmware. So you have been warned ! DO NOT update to iOS 4.0.2 or iOS 4.1 until the new jailbreak tools are available.
If you are on iOS 4.0.2 with SHSH blobs saved, and want to downgrade back to iOS 4.0.1, you can follow the step by step guide posted here.
We will of course let you know whenever the new jailbreaking and unlocking tools are available for the newer iOS based devices. Stay tuned ! [via Dev-Team Blog]

PlayStation 3 / PS3 Has Been Finally Hacked to Run Games Without Original Discs [Video]
It was only a few weeks ago when we reported about the new Xbox 360 Slim / S getting “hacked” treatment by modders. And just when we all thought that there is never going to be a way to hack the most secure console of this generation i.e. PlayStation 3, in comes a new hack which claims to run games on PS3 without having the need to insert the original disc. This is achieved by a special “USB modchip” drive which allows you to dump your games from original discs to internal or external drive connected to PS3
It was earlier this year when famous iPhone hacker named George Hotz (aka Geohot) managed to hack the PS3, allowing full memory access on the system. But his hack was limited to “OtherOS” feature which was later removed by Sony in firmware 3.x. He also said that he did it for research purposes only and that he had no plans to further pursue it.
Of course there is still doubts about how much of this is true and how much isn’t. But going by the video attached below, it looks quite legit. Share your thoughts on this in the comments section below.

Google and Verizon Join Hands to Support Open Internet
According to Google Public Policy blog -
The original architects of the Internet got the big things right. By making the network open, they enabled the greatest exchange of ideas in history. By making the Internet scalable, they enabled explosive innovation in the infrastructure. The Verizon-Google Legislative Framework Proposal to lawmakers stressed that wireline Internet (non-wireless broadband) users should have “access to all legal content on the Internet” without discrimination. This “nondiscrimination” policy bans all prioritization (including paid prioritization) of Internet traffic. “In addition to not blocking or degrading of Internet content and applications, wireline broadband providers also could not favor particular Internet traffic over other traffic,” states the proposal.
It is imperative that we find ways to protect the future openness of the Internet and encourage the rapid deployment of broadband. Verizon and Google are pleased to discuss the principled compromise our companies have developed over the last year concerning the thorny issue of “network neutrality.”
“Under the principles, there is no prioritization of traffic that comes from Google over the Internet, period,” said Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg today, point-blank. The companies also asked for FCC regulation in this regard, proposing that violators of the policy should be penalized up to $2 million on a case-by-case basis.

Dropped Your iPhone in Water? Well there is a Fix for that !
The DIY (Do It Yourself) procedure as explained on the site:
And here is the video which shows the above instructions in detail:
- It is imperative to remove the iPhone out of the water ASAP. Once the iPhone is out of the water, you want to make sure it is powered off.
- If you get a white pinwheel on the screen and it won’t turn of, you hold down the power button and home button until it turns off. In the video we failed to record it powering back on after we powered it off. We simply repeated the ‘power off process’ and moved on to the next important step; remove the SIM card.
- Once the SIM card is removed you want to put the iPhone in an uncooked bag of rice. Tighten the bag so all extra air is gone and seal it.
- Wait 48 to 76 hours after the water exposure and then try it out. If you find at that time it is not functioning properly as a result of the iPhone water damage put back in the rice and mail to us.

UK Military Adopts Apple iPad for Training Soldiers
We have already seen iPad being used by Hollywood directors, installed in the cars, being used in restaurants as menu cards, and how some airlines are thinking about adopting it as an inflight entertainment system for its passengers in the skies. And now besides its entertainment and commercial uses, iPad is slowly creeping into military training arena. At the Royal School of Artillery in Wiltshire, UK, iPads are used in classrooms to train soldiers. Early reports indicate that this experiment so far has been successful in accelerating their learning, thanks largely to the natural interactive experience which is said to have been responsible for this.
The benefits of this, as reported by The Next Web:
Benefits of iPad use in military training, and any learning experience for that matter, is a decrease in the amount of classroom time required when using the right app for the situation, decreases in costs associated with publishing training materials, and the mobility the iPad offers can transfer learning to any environment.Trainees have described their experience with iPad as follows:
This has been designed to let us practice, that when we get out there into theatre we’re a lot slicker. It makes it more fun instead of being sat in a classroom looking at a presentation being given information. The group of developers who developed this training app is now working on a 3D iPad app for training new pilots. It makes it more fun instead of being sat in a classroom looking at a presentation being given information.
If you’re on a course you can take this back to the block and practice with it, even have little competitions with it.
