Some Google+ Tips
Google's brand new social sharing "Google Plus" is catching everyone's eye and almost everyone seems to like it , so here are some tips which you might find useful.
* You can click on profile pictures to rotate through them.
* In the stream, you can click 'j' to navigate down to the next item or 'k' to navigate up. I think it's the same keys that Gmail uses
* If you're sharing a post with a small circle of people, you can prevent resharing. Click the arrow at the top-right of the post and choose "Disable reshare."
*One more: if you're looking for more fun things in your stream, the "Incoming" stream is stuff from people who are sharing with you, but who you haven't added to a circle.
There are a lot of other tips and tricks for Google plus which you should learn. i am still digging out more features, settings and shortcuts for Google plus.

What Is Google Plus And How it Works?
Google Plus is a new initiative from Google, which aims to simplify your social sharing experience and connect with people who matter to you in real life. But wait…don’t we already have Facebook, Twitter and dozens of social sharing sites already?
Yes, but Google plus takes a different approach towards social sharing, and this guy has better privacy control on the features provided.
Don’t you hate it when a random friend adds you to a stupid Facebook group? Do you go mad when you receive tons of spam mentions on Twitter? They are all public and anyone can find it via a simple search [@your_Twitter-handle]. Are you fed up with people who mass tag you in photos and videos, which really gets in the way of your social privacy? You don’t want to remove those friends from your social life, it’s just that you want to prevent them from doing the same nonsense over and over again.
Enter Google Plus – same social sharing and connections but no more fiddling with user privacy. In Google Plus, your friends or followers will have to take prior permission from you, if they want you to tag in a photo or video. There is no Wall so the question of spam links and malicious apps being posted on your profile is burned to death.
If you tag someone in a post, and share it only with him, none else can see it. Not even mutual friends !
How Circles In Google + Works
Everything in Google + works through Circles.
A Circle is an identifier for the network you create and it is visible to you only. You can create as many circles as you want, and add friends to one or more circles that you have created. No one except you will be able to see the name and visibility of your Google Plus circles.
The best thing regarding Google Plus is that Google will automatically scan your email contact list and Android contacts and suggest you people whom you might want to follow. You may add these people to your circles through a beautiful and intuitive drag-and-drop interface.
If you want to follow a celebrity or a famous person on Google Plus, simply search for his name on the search box and add him to a circle you have created. Again, this circle is visible only to you so you can safely name it anything you want.
Further, you will see a brief preview of which of your friends are participating in a discussion within your circle. This is really nice and quite similar to Facebook, the only difference here is that there would be no notification like “Mr X tagged you in a photo” . Anyone who wants to tag you in a photo will have to obtain your prior permission, which is very very useful and a godsend.
Contrary to Facebook and Twitter, there is no way to send private messages to your Google plus friends and contacts. Instead, there is a handy option called “Email’ placed right below the profile photo of your Google Plus friend, click it and you can send a private message directly to his email inbox.
There are a lot of other tips and tricks for Google plus which you should learn. i am still digging out more features, settings and shortcuts for Google plus.

Your Google Plus Life Stream
Your Google Plus life stream will contain updates from all the people whom you are following. This includes photos, status updates, videos and comments from people whom you have added to your Google + circles.
Your Google Plus Notifications
On the top right corner of your Google plus profile, you will notice a sleek notifications button. This little kid will continue monitoring your Google plus activity and alert you whenever someone comments in a post you commented earlier, someone replies to your status update or tags you in a photo uploaded by you.Further, you will see a brief preview of which of your friends are participating in a discussion within your circle. Chat With Plus One Buddies Or Email Them
Every social network has an option to send instant messages to their followers and friends and Google Plus is no exception. The chat widget is placed down the bottom of right pane where you can click the name of a person and send him an instant message right away.Contrary to Facebook and Twitter, there is no way to send private messages to your Google plus friends and contacts. Our developers have been working hard on this and the work has progressed well. Development and testing is still ongoing and the current plan is start the roll-out in the beginning of August.
For more information on what to expect from this update please re-visit the original post from back in March, most of it is still valid:
A few things have changed since then.
First of all – we’ve seen your feedback about losing some of the camera features of the original XperiaTM X10. Our developers have been working on it and I can now confirm that also the Gingerbread version of the X10 software will keep the original camera UI as in the Éclair version. I can also confirm that the new Facebook inside XperiaTM functionality introduced in the 2011 XperiaTM products will also be in the XperiaTM X10.
As said in March most of the 2011 XperiaTM software functionality from e.g. XperiaTM arc will be included. The UI with the desktop layout and pinch-to-overview gesture will be similar and Gingerbread features like Wi-Fi & USB tethering, App storage on SD-card etc are included. Also the customizable horizontal app tray and the media experience widgets from the 2011 XperiaTM Products are in, including an integrated equalizer in the music player. Of course also apps that require Android versions 2.2 or 2.3 will now be possible to download from Android Market, e.g. Adobe flash.
One difference compared to the 2011 products is that DLNA will not be included. Extra type approvals were needed for that and we were unable to prioritize that without jeopardizing the time schedule. There are both server and client alternatives downloadable from Android market though.
For XperiaTM X10 mini, mini pro and X8 there are as communicated earlier no plans to update beyond the current Éclair version. There are two mains reasons for this: The XperiaTM X10 mini, X10 mini pro and X8 all have less RAM memory than XperiaTM X10. By this we can’t guarantee a good user experience by upgrading beyond Android 2.1. The upgrade of XperiaTM X10 also was made possible due to that we had a code base that mostly could be reused. For the mini’s, who have a different user interface, this possibility did not exist.
With regards to the roll-out plan, as said back in March, this will first and foremost be made available to generic trade kits. Even if there will be some operator kits getting this upgrade, as said before – some of you will not be able to upgrade your customized version of XperiaTM X10.
I’ve recorded the hands-on video below to give you a view of what it looks like. Let me know in the comments section if there are follow-up questions or certain use cases you want me to go through!

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Gingerbread Update Might Deliver Multi-touch and More
Sony Ericsson has come a long way since last year, when it released its first Android handset – the Xperia X10. It got a lot of things wrong with the X10. However, it seems to have learnt its lesson. This year it launched the Arc and the Neo with the latest version of Android. It decoupled its custom skin (UX) from the Android core. It gave users of the new Xperia handsets the option of unlocking the bootloader. It backtracked on its initial announcement, and decided to provide the Gingerbread update to the Xperia X10. It delivered dual touch to the X10. And, Sony Ericsson doesn’t seem to be done yet.
If Sony Ericsson Brazil is to be believed, then the new update will introduce full multi-touch support to the Xperia X10. As mentioned above, Sony Ericsson delivered dual-touch to the X10 through a firmware update released earlier in the year. While dual-touch is good enough for pinch-to-zoom, two-finger scrolling, and other simple operations, it is often not good enough for gaming. SE Brazil reiterated in the comments section of its blog update that the new update will indeed deliver full multi-touch, and promised more details soon. The multi-touch issue has been a sensitive one for Xperia X10 owners since Sony Ericsson has changed its position multiple times. While this news will undoubtedly excite Xperia X10 owners, it will also raises a very important question. Full multi-touch support through nifty software tricks is impossible. And if the Xperia X10 hardware was capable of multi-touch all along, then why did Sony Ericsson insist to the contrary?
Unconfirmed chatter also suggests that Sony Ericsson might deliver multiple other improvements including 16 M colors, new kernel, and an unlocked bootloader. The update is scheduled for Q3, 2011; however, don’t be shocked if it is released earlier.

Google’s Les Paul Guitar Doodle Is Awesome, And Here Is How You Can Play A Song On It
Todays Google Doodle is without doubt the best Google doodle ever.
Go to Google.com and you have a working electric guitar, waiting to be strummed using your computer’s keyboard and mouse. Google is celebrating the 96th birthday of Les Paul – the legendary American Jazz guitarist and the person to whom the famous Epiphone Lespaul electric guitar is credited.
Playing music on todays Google logo is pure fun. Hover your mouse over the strings and slide it down to strum the Guitar. Make sure your computer’s audio system is properly connected, otherwise you might miss the sound produced by the doodle.
The Guitar doodle also works with your computer’s keyboard, just hit the keyboard button once and press any alphabet (A-Z) or number to hear a unique tone. You can play Do – Re- Mi in the sequence: QWERTYUI. Some sources have reported that the doodle also houses a small record button, which can be used to record your notes and you can simply copy the URL of the resulting page and share the piece music with anyone.
As for me, I was not lucky enough to find the record button and record the sequence of notes of a song.
The following video shows how notes and chords work in the Les Paul Google doodle:

Use Official Twitter Address Bar Search for Firefox 4
witter has released a new Firefox add-on which will help people use Twitter as the default search engine on their Firefox 4 browser. Most people have Google or Bing as the default search engine with their Firefox browser.
Users can download Twitter Address Bar Search add-on, and it works with latest version of Firefox for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and even Android.
The Twitter add-on also creates a pinned tab by default, which is useful to visit Twitter website quickly. It allows searching for hashtags and search queries from the address bar itself. Just make sure you have selected Twitter as the new search engine with Firefox.
This is certainly a good move by Twitter to become more active as a source for content discovery. Twitter is not a social network per se, where friends will talk or discuss topics but it is a great way to follow the news and come across interesting content online.
Before Twitter, sees a great deal of monetization, it will need to make its search feature a lot more accessible and acceptable. This add-on seems to be a step in the right direction.
Do try out the official Twitter address bar search for Firefox and drop in your comments.
